Channeling My Inner Michelle Kwan
How excited am I to bring my ice skates to work and then skip on over to Bryant Park during my lunch break for a quick (and free!) glide around the rink?

Then I would have to go back to work with a broken ankle.
ReplyDeleteI never had the coordination for roller skating (and this is back befor ethose inline jobbers) never mind attempting to ice skate! However, when growing up, I had some neighbors that would purposely flood their back yard and let it freeze right over so their 2 girls could iceskate to their hearts content every winter.
ReplyDeleteSee for some reason I could never really roller blade that well and after a near-concussion experience in high school I just stopped trying. But ice skating comes way easier to me. Mind you I can't do any tricks, but going around in circles listening to whatever's playing on the rink's radio is good enough for me :)
ReplyDeleteSooooooooooooo jealous over here!!! I'm from NY and I haven't been "home" since 1987!!!! I hope you are enjoying it enough for both of us! =)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds magical. I think it's like 80 degrees here today.
ReplyDeleteAh, how fun!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, received the post cards, thanks!
I think I hate you a little bit. ;)
ReplyDeletesigh. I envy you.
I remember my first time there. it was magical.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous! I remember being a kid and getting my first pair of roller blades. I tried doing a triple axel, and I fell on my arm. It went numb for a bit, but luckily I didn't break it. Needless to say, I gave up on my roller blading/figure skating career!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great time!!!
Im with Queenie though, I'm from Syracuse and havent been "home" since 1993 and Im soooo jealous to see that it's cold enough for ice already...
ReplyDeletequeenie, yipers! What's taken you so long woman?! Get back here pronto! I couldn't imagine spending the holidays anywhere else.
ReplyDeletegabby, it was actually pretty warm here too. Granted it was misting all day and cloudy, but surprisingly warm.
sugar, yay! I'm glad they made it ok.
heidi, we both know that's a total lie. I'm too "cute" to be hated :p
franco, did you go during the day or at night? I think skating at night would be so sweet to do!
dolcechic, wow that was ambitious of you. I could basrely master "moving forward." And I didn't go today, I'm just excited that the rink is open and so close to where I work. Will def take advantage of this.
chicagolady, you should def give ice skating a try! It was easier for me than rollerblading, maybe it will be for you? Can't hurt to try...actually that's a lie, but it's so much fun once you learn.
lady, Ooh I went to grad school up in Syracuse for a year. I actually bought my ice skates because our campus had a rink we could use for free. I think I used them all of three times while I was there.
That sounds amazing. I can't ice skate to save my life (probably because we don't have an ice skating rink in FL!), but it looks so so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
everytime i tried to go,
ReplyDeletethe lines were od long
and then never did.
every winter its my dream to go skating y nunca se da,
last time i went was too long ago
this winter i shall try again!
and you shall go dama with your great husband lol...i havent gone in a while but i think its about time i go back lol
ReplyDeletekelsey, thanks!
ReplyDeletedama & dariany, how about this: you both go and wait on line and give a ring when you're almost in. That way I can pop over and not waste my hour standing in line. So you get to help me and I get to skate! It's win-win for everyone!
That sounds so fun! I love ice skating and I bet being in Bryant Park would be so fun. That place holds a special memory for me because we met Diane Sawyer there and she is my role model for how to be a classy chick!
ReplyDeleteI no longer have any family left there or I would have come back. My life is with my own family now...and wherever the Army sends us. I will ALWAYS be a NY broad though, lol!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliments on my family. I am truly blessed!!
I have a hard enough time standing up just wearing soxs... :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation!!!
so u got skills or u say lol happy weekend
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love NY - so gorgeous! My bro-in-law (JT's bro)proposed his wife there on Christmas Eve. Aww beautiful photos!
