He's like a fluffy little bear. And they did want a rescue dog, but finding a dog suitable for their daughter's allergies was first and foremost so they went with a Water Portuguese Dog instead. Senator Kennedy is a huge fan of them and trained this one for the family before presenting him to them.
The family decided to make a donation to the District of Columbia Humane Society, but obviously people will still throw a fuss about their decision.
P.S. Doesn't it look like he has little white boots?!
