What's Septicemia?
Septicemia: the 10th leading cause of deaths in the U.S. and yet not very well-known. After 20-year-old Brazilian model Mariana Bridi da Costa (left) had to have her limbs amputated and then died last Saturday because of the disease, I did some research to learn more about it. Here’s what I found.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up. Definitely not something one would want to get for sure. It's sad that it takes a tragedy to draw attention to something so deadly.

ReplyDeleteThanks for updating us on this deadly disease. After watching ER for 15 years, I've heard the term septic shock, but never really understoood what it was.

ReplyDeleteI used to work for a drug company that was trying to develop a drug for septic shock but the "study agent" (as the call "potential new" drugs) was not successful - they did spend millions of dollars trying.
