Seriously, nothing says "I'm a lazy mofo" like sending out a "Happy New Year! [Insert generic wishes of health and prosperity.]" to everyone in your contact list regardless of whether you ever talk to them or not. Hello! What about a "Hi, are you still alive?" every now and then?
So if you must go the mass route, be considerate and send out an e-mail or post that joint on Facebook. At least I won't end up paying for your laziness.

Look, just because you're ballin' with your unlimited text messages doesn't mean I am. I want each of my 400 texts to count and that doesn't include getting the same message you sent to that annoying friend you spent half the year avoiding. (Yes, even if I am her!) Don't think for one second you'll be the only one or that your peeps will love whatever you have to say. We won't and you'll only be the umpteenth person buzzing in. And I'm sure not paying an extra 20 cents for your tired message.
So if you must go the mass route, be considerate and send out an e-mail or post that joint on Facebook. At least I won't end up paying for your laziness.

How about you stop being a cheap mofo and upgrade to a better phone and unlimited msgs!!
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, my people behaved on the mass txting front this holiday season. Joy be to all!
Oh so I should cater to the laziness? Hell no! I like paying 55 bucks and 55 bucks only every single month! Contrale, Christmas spirit went right out the window each time a new text came. Es que le gente no entienden.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find offensive, and annoying, is the same long long recycled message from twenty different 'friends'... Ok, I mean so much to you and you can't even write me a two liner all by yourself? Uh uhm,... not acceptable!!
ReplyDeleteI do send out texts and e-mails to all my friends, but if I haven't spoken to them for several months then they generally don't get added. I definately don't text people I haven't spoken to for months anyway. They may get included in the e-mail, but I only text those I text and/or speak to enough so that I know that's definately the right number and they'll definately get it. And, for the record, although I send out an e-mail that's the same for everyone, my holiday text messages are personalised, and the only reason I send out one the same is if I do what I did this year and text a wake up message to get all my family out of bed nice and early.
ReplyDeleteWhat? I was nice, I waited until after 7:00 am instead of texting when I actually got up! ;)
I have a friend who does this and it drives me crazy. I rarely talk to him at all, and every holiday (EVERY HOLIDAY) I get "Happy (fill in the blank holiday)!!"
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya'. 100%.
I can't stand the mass holiday texts! It's so impersonal!
ReplyDeleteI did send you a generic message, but on the other hand I sent it only to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Those mass texts are ANNOYING!
ReplyDeleteBut, for some reason, I don't mind the mobile twitter updates. At least those I can choose to receive.
Thanks for making me laugh. And luckily I am yet to be the recipient of a text like that or yeah it would annoy me too!
ReplyDeleteLOL! That reminds me of my cousin Brooklyn who sent out 3,000 text messages in a month. Thank God her parents had an unlimited plan for her or I think she would still be grounded!
ReplyDeleteA few of my friends and I got a mass Merry Christmas text from a former classmate that I haven't seen in a couple of years. The really crazy thing was that she was wishing us a Merry Christmas on December 10th! It is ok to wish someone Merry Christmas on Dec 10 if you are working behind a register at WalMart. Not ok if you are sending it on a mass text!
You can send generic/mass text messages?
ReplyDelete...I'm with you... what the heck is the point of doing that?!? Its like a certain relative of mine that sends Christmas cards out - with a printed mailing label - return address sticker - and pre-pre-printed signature inside - ...so heartwarming ... not.
What's a text message?
ReplyDeleteJust for the record - I only send out personal text messages and don't even know how to do mass texts. :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you on this one! But what about mass emails? They kind of annoy me too, even if they are free.
Mass anything is annoying. I used to think "well, at least I made their list"....now I just hit delete. I don't WANT to make most people's lists, and I don't care if that's mean of me. I'm pregnant and tend to be mean when in that status. Ha! They can eat it.
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny and how true!!! This made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteLol this is SO me! I'll stop =( haha. I love unlimited.
ReplyDeleteI hate 'em too. I don't need a cellphone except for when we travel so I have a cheapy for emergencies. It's a pay as you go. The only problem is that I get charged whether I send or receive the call/text. Last thing I want is something impersonal that I have to pay for...
ReplyDeleteI hate them. In fact, If I was planning to call that person I probably won't anymore.
