Hello, April

I don't know about yours, but my April has been off to a beautiful start. Friday evening, I surprised A. with a picnic in Central Park. We threw the frisbee around (I sucked by the way)...

and checked out this couple making out in a tree. I was so tempted to run up to them and sing the k-i-s-s-i-n-g song, but I didn't want to ruin their moment. A. and I had ours an hour later when we finally said the l-word :)

Much to my delight, Saturday was incredibly spontaneous. (I love walking around aimlessly, don't you?) Our first stop was Newmindspace's massive pillow fight in Union Square. Unfortunately, we didn't bring pillows to beat the crap out of total strangers with so instead we chilled by the sidelines and watched the madness unfold. Even Waldo made an appearance!

Then we walked down to Astor Place where we grabbed strawberry and banana crepes and empanadas at a street fair while popping into random stores and pointing out "Pillow People" along the way.

Sunday's warmth was just calling for another trip to the park. We set up mat in Sheep Meadow, played frisbee (I rock now by the way) and did some serious people watching (read: checked out the sunbathers). It was nice to just lay on green grass again.

See? A beautiful start. How was yours?

Oh, and for those who didn't warn me that Up is the saddest movie on Earth: good looking out, punks.

  2. Oh the park looks beautiful! That would have been so funny if you would have sang the k-i-s-s-i-n-g song to those two! LOL! Especially if you would have gotten it on video for us all! :) The L word! That is so great for you! I am so excited for you that you are so happy!

That pillow fight looks too fun! You were just a busy little bee this weekend weren't you?!

I haven't seen Up and I think I shall skip it now. I hate sad movies!

  4. I vaguely recall seeing you Sunday and having a few good laughs. Was this a figment of my imagination???

  5. I also had drinks at a bar on St. Marks and watched the opening day Yankees vs Red Sox game last night, but they're also not there. Figured I'd just mention the outdoor activities, dear sister.

  7. Yeah totally forgot that one. Shall we add who we were dragging along behind us acting like he didn't want to skip through the warm night with us?

  10. sugarlens, I hope you two have been taking Anna Banana out to enjoy the sunshine too!

damaris, I had...until you brought it up again. At least now you know we're not crazy. Last night I kept "singing" that tiny bit to see if A. knew which one it was and after you sent the link over, he got it right away. So I'm there going, but that's what I was singing!! Apparently I was totally off and now I can't remember my "wrong" version.

  11. Awww the L word! Spring DEFINITELY is in the air! :o) Oh and you fell for the fluffy poster ads of UP as well? We pre-screened it for our kids and my husband and I simultaneously looked at each other and were like "Umm....NO!" :oP It was like a modern day Jane Austen novel but with more vivid colors!

    My best, Lynn

  14. I absolutely love that second photo of you jumping -- that's precisely how I feel about spring. AND a massive pillow fight? AWESOME. I need to move back to NYC eventually.

  16. Yep, it definately sounds like April got off to a nice start for you. :)

April hasn't been too bad for me so far. Not as great as yours seems to have been though.

  19. I'm soooooo happppppy!!!!

...I've thought for years I was the only one that sucked at Frisbee throwing - somehow thinking I had defective joints in my arms (and legs for that matter) that precluded my ability to spin a whammo.

:) It soooooo nice to have company!

p.s., the flowering tree looks marvelous! As does that crazy fribeeing (is that a word?) couple.

And I confess to being jealous... you found Waldo...

  20. The "L" word! I love when you get to say it for the first time. *sigh* Don't tell the Big Guy, he'll think I've turned into a big sap or something. ha!

I love April...all the more closer to summer : )

  21. Opps, yeah did I ever tell you, you will cry at the beginning of UP? :)

That pillow fight looks like fun! Too bad you didn't have pillows. But it seriously looks like the perfect day, the l-word and all :)

  22. your post brings back awesome memories. I used to get my hair buzz cut at the Astor Place barber shop back in the 80's :-) love the frisbee action shots. who knew a little frisbee could lead to a spontaneous l-word uttering :D

  23. Pillow fight looks AWESOME. Congrats on that whole L-word thing!

And Up isn't the saddest movie on the planet. But it did have the most depressing opening in history. I'll give you that.

  24. Wow young love. Love the kissing in the tree :)

  25. Lovely! :) This post... and especially the pictures of you jumping, and the couple in the tree... made me feel all warm and fuzzy! :)

  26. I wonder if that couple (or perhaps just the girl) are fans of the Twilight movie.

Lovely photo of the trees and flowers. I really need to get to my favorite park and take pictures of the flowering and budding trees.

  27. Wait a minute!! The L-word was said? I need a whole post on that!

    ReplyDelete
  28. The L word...hmmmm...yup. definitely needing more information on that!

I am so completely jealous of the insanely nice weather you're having. Here it is blustery and cold and wet. Boo.

  29. Beautiful! I miss New York. Wandering aimlessly around that city is one of my favorite things.

  30. That picture reminds me of Twilight! :) Congrats on the "l" word...and just thing you now have it documented! :)

  31. What a fun weekend you had. I know I'm late to the party, but that's the story of my life right now, obviously.

A massive pillow fight? Why don't I live there? Seriously?

And the L word? I'm smiling for you right now. Fresh and new. Enjoy it!
