Sometimes You Say You Don't Need a Man...

And then you realize you can't open that bottle of apple juice no matter how hard you try.

Water it is then.

  1. That's when you invest in a slip joint or tongue and groove set of pliers. If they dont work then this (http://www.pressurecooker-outlet.com/B31120231.htm) should. ;)

  3. Ooh, thanks so much for this! I almost cut my hand trying to open that thing (it still hurts a bit). A towel didn't work either. I did have these winter gloves back in the day that had little rubber dots all over them, which worked great, but they're long gone now.

Pickle jars are the worse. Too big for my hands.

  4. I also have one of those rubber round things (get your mind out of the gutter) that are usually about 6 inches in diameter, those will usually help me open whatever I need. Also, try running hot water over the lid if it won't open. Another trick I learned from my dad was to (not too hard) bang the side of the lid on the edge of the counter on a couple different sides, that sometimes helps to loosen it too.

  5. Oh I'd never heard the hot water, side bang tricks. We usually turn it upside down and smack the bottom, but I think that works best with glass bottles since it did nothing this time.

  7. Oh, I hear ya' girl.

Here is what I use: a rubber grip. It has little raised bumps so it doesn't slip. Put the bumpy side against the cap and twist! It's flat, about the size of a small letter envelope and about 1/8 of an inch thick.

You can get them at Target/Wal-Mart in the kitchen aisle for a couple of dollars.

    Hot water works too!
