New York Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage
Last night, New York passed the same-sex marriage bill legalizing something that should have been done eons ago. Now double the amount of gay and lesbian couples can tie the knot and I'm sure tomorrow's Gay Pride parade should be madness! Six states down (with NY being the largest), 44 more to go and I'm looking at you, California.
P.S. Did anyone catch the Empire State Building shining in a rainbow of colors last night?

Its a shame it took seemingly endless debate to let folks "live and let live".
ReplyDeleteIt's a sign of progress. 10 years ago, one would have wondered if this would ever become legal in NYC.
ReplyDeleteI was just reading the news how this would produce $2,300,000 in new wedding business in the state of NY (and the cynic in me wondered if this was the actual reason the bill passed into law)... but I did find it somewhat entertaining to see that the current marriage application in NY uses "Groom" and "Bride" for "Party A Name" and "Party B Name" and now there is a ruckus on what the "new" form should say...
ReplyDeleteProducing the new forms will undoubtably cost something too.
